KICK’s main objective is ‘To promote the relief of poverty among disadvantaged youth, women and other marginalised groups through programmes that support fair trade, entrepreneurship, value addition, market access and climate adaptation’.
Its other official objectives are:
- To assist disadvantaged producers in Kenya in increasing the value of their fair trade businesses, resulting in higher incomes, increased employment, and enhanced community development
- To exploit opportunities in the craft, gifts, interior décor, and food value chains on Fair Trade terms.
- To advocate for and promote Fair Trade values and products in Kenya and the world.
- To develop and promote innovative solutions for youth employability and entrepreneurship.
- To partner with corporate, government and development partners to promote innovative programs that support youth employability, self-employment, and entrepreneurship.
- To implement climate change initiatives at the community level involving climate resilience, mitigation, and adaptation.
